New Joe Eszterhas Written Thriller To Be Directed By....Hype Williams?!

Source: Joblo

Notorious Hollywood scripter Joe Eszterhas (pictured on the left) is a name that we have not heard much from since the 90s. While he was responsible for bringing in mounds of cash writing hits like Flashdance and Basic Instinct (which he was paid a then-record $3 million for), he also wrote clunkers like Jade and, of course, everyone's favorite uplifting success story about a small-town girl who goes stripping, Showgirls.

Welcome back, Mr. Eszterhas. He has now written another erotic script called "Lust," with music video director Hype Williams (1998's Belly) attached to direct. The film's going to be about a 30 year old woman married to a wealthy older magazine publisher who falls for a guy around her age. He procedes to seduce her, and secretly videotape them having sex. This leads to the young woman's life taking a turn for the worse. The film is said to have a $28 million budget and filming is set to begin in November. Casting is taking place now. Can Williams capture the same suspense-filled eroticism that Paul Verhoeven brought to "Basic Instinct?" Or will "Lust" turn into the joke that was "Showgirls?" We'll find out next year.

Note: Williams has made music videos for artists like Busta Rhymes and Kanya West.
