The Cannes Film Festival is the oldest and probably the most prestigious film festival in the world. Featuring over 50 full length and a number of short films, movie makers from all over the world descend on Southern France every year to showcase their talent and compete for the Palme d'Or.

This year's festival is being held between May 11 and May 22 2011, with the opening movie to be Midnight in Paris, written and directed by Woody Allen, and closing with French film Les Bien-amies (The Beloved) from Christophe Honore.
