Al Pacino To Star As Phil Spector In Upcoming HBO Movie

Al Pacino is an actor whom I have always admired. Whether he was playing Michael Corleone in the Godfather films or even the Devil himself in 1997's Devil's Advocate, he always seemed to bring the right emotion (and yes, shouted a lot) to each role he was given.

His film work in recent years, however, was taking a turn for the worse. From 88 Minutes to even a reunion with Robert DeNiro in Righteous Kill, Pacino seemed to be mailing in both his choices of scripts and performances.

Enter HBO. His performance as Jack Kevorkian in last year's HBO film You Don't Know Jack won him raves, and now it looks like he is ready to return. Check out this snapshot (pictured on your left) taken this week from the Long Island set of his new film for the network, where he plays notorious film producer Phil Spector, who was charged with murder in 2009. The film will also star Helen Mirren as the defense attorney who represented Spector during his trial. No word yet on when the film is set to air, but it should be interesting.

Note: Pacino turned down the role of Han Solo.
