Who You Gonna Call? Tom Haverford!

It's been a while since there has been any word about "Ghostbusters 3".

Rumored for nearly 20 years, the project was said to be back on in 2009 with Sony fast-tracking the film for a Christmas 2012 release. All of the original main cast (Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver) had signed on to return along with director Ivan Reitman. Bull Murray was long thought to be the lone holdout keeping the production in limbo.

In 2010, Murray said in an interview with Coming Soon: "You know, maybe I should just do it. Maybe it'd be fun to do." Then it all fell apart and just as quickly as GB3 news surfaced, it all seemed to go silent.

The news breaking today is that Sony wants to move forward with their Ghostbusters sequel/reboot and sources have told Bloody Disgusting that comedian Aziz Ansari is on the top of their list to star. It is currently unknown if the studio has reached out to Ansari with an offer or when "Ghostbusters 3" will actually begin filming.

The official synopsis: A ragtag group of paranormal researchers reopen their notorious ghost removal service, and a new generation of Ghostbusters is brought on board to be green slimed and trained to contain the mischievous spirits.
