Scream Stars: Where Are They Now?

Source: Buzzsugar

Scream 4 opens this week, and even though the newest sequel features a reunion of three of the 1996 film's stars (Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette), I was curious about what the rest of the cast of the original movie are up to. So before you check out the next chapter in the witty horror franchise, see what the original actors are doing!

Neve Campbell

Then: Campbell portrayed the heroine, Sidney Prescott. Distraught about her mother's brutal murder one year prior to Woodsboro's new crop of killings, Sid finds herself as the number one target for the masked villain.

Now: These days, Campbell doesn't appear in quite as many films, making her Scream 4 role quite the treat. Next up she'll star in Vivaldi, a biopic about the Italian composer.

Rose McGowan

Then: McGowan was Tatum, Sidney's best friend and Dewey's sister. She provides moral support until she meets her end in a doggy door at the hands of the killer.

Now: After becoming a regular on TV series Charmed, the actress has returned to film — up next she can be seen in the reboot of Conan the Barbarian.

Skeet Ulrich

Then: Ulrich played Billy Loomis, Sidney's hot boyfriend who seems too good to be true. And how: seeking revenge on Sidney because her mother seduced his father, Billy goes on a killing spree until he's unmasked and taken down by Sid and Gale.

Now: Ulrich moved from film to small-screen roles, like on the canceled series Jericho. Most recently, he went from guest star on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit to series regular on Law & Order: Los Angeles.

Courteney Cox

Then: Cox played nosy reporter Gale Weathers, who initially antagonizes Sidney's character, but eventually proves to be her ally.

Now: Cox is a big sitcom star now, just as she was in 1996; only instead of Friends, Cox's current vehicle is hilarious ABC comedy Cougar Town.

Matthew Lillard

Then: Lillard played Stu, boyfriend to Tatum and best friend to Billy, who gets caught up in Billy's bloodthirsty plan.

Now: The boyish-looking actor parlayed his part as Shaggy in 2002's Scooby-Doo into a voice-over gig as the character in the animated series and specials. However, he does have a high-profile film coming up soon — he'll appear with George Clooney in The Descendants.

David Arquette

Then: Arquette starred as Dewey Riley, Woodsboro's bumbling deputy turned hero, and Gale's unlikely knight in shining armor.

Now: Arquette is reprising his role in Scream 4, but he also has duties that don't require him to be on the screen — he produces wife Cox's series Cougar Town.

Drew Barrymore

Then: Barrymore appeared in the film's unforgettable opening scene as Casey Becker, the high school student who becomes one of the first victims of Billy and Stu's Ghostface menace.

Now: Movie star Barrymore has moved into producing, and now directing as well. After taking on helming duties for 2009's Whip It, Barrymore has recently lined up the romantic comedy How to Be Single. Next up she'll appear in Everybody Loves Whales opposite John Krasinski.

Jamie Kennedy

Then: Kennedy was Randy, the nerdy video store clerk in Sid's group of friends. His most helpful role in the film is identifying the strict horror movie roles that characters aren't supposed to break.

Now: After the comedian had his prank show The Jamie Kennedy Experiment in the early 2000s, Kennedy has had a few stints on other TV series, like Ghost Whisperer. Currently, he lends his voice to The Cleveland Show.
