Paramount Pictures 2011 Summer Preview

Paramount Pictures has released a preview of their upcoming 2011 summer release slate for movies opening between May and July. Thanks to Movieweb we have that preview for you here. Those upcoming movies include Thor, Kung Fu Panda 2, Super 8, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and Captain America: The First Avenger.


Thor



Thor - May 6th


The epic adventure Thor spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the mystical realm of Asgard. At the center of the story  is The Mighty Thor, a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As a result, Thor is banished to Earth where he is forced to live among humans. Kung Fu Panda 2

In Kung Fu Panda 2, Po is now living his dream as The Dragon Warrior, protecting the Valley of Peace alongside his friends and fellow kung fu masters, The Furious Five. But Po's new life of awesomeness is threatened by the emergence of a formidable villain, who plans to use a secret, unstoppable weapon to conquer China and destroy kung fu. Super 8


Super 8 - June 10th


In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a Super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth - something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined. Super 8 stars Elle Fanning, Amanda Michalka, and Kyle Chandler.



Transformers: Dark of the Moon



Transformers: Dark of the Moon - July 1st


The Autobots Bumblebee, Ratchet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action, taking on the evil Decepticons, who are determined to avenge their defeat in 2009's Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. In this new movie, the Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, and once again human Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) has to come to the aid of his robot friends. There's new characters too, including a new villain in the form of Shockwave, a longtime "Transformers" character who rules Cybertron while the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out on Earth.



Captain America: The First Avenger



Captain America: The First Avenger - July 22nd


Captain America: The First Avenger will focus on the early days of the Marvel Universe when Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) volunteers to participate in an experimental program that turns him into the Super Soldier known as Captain America. As Captain America, Rogers joins forces with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) and Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) to wage war on the evil HYDRA organization, led by the villainous Red Skull (Hugo Weaving).

Looks to be a very interesting summer!
