Scream Blu-Ray Special Features Revealed

With the Scream trilogy blu-ray discs coming home on March 29 after only being announced fairly recently, we expected a worse case scenario of completely bare-bones discs aimed at rushing the movies back into the marketplace to meet demand created by the theatrical release of Scream 4The best case scenario of brand new extras in such a small time-frame simply didn’t seem possible.
So it’s a happy compromise to find the result somewhere in the middle: It is now confirmed the blu-rays will port over at least the primary special features from previous DVD releases whilst the films themselves will be upgraded picture and sound quality. Hi-Def Digest mention 1080p video and a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack and Amazon list the features which are expected to be upscaled from standard-def:
Scream
• Audio Commentary by Director Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson
• Production Featurette
• Behind the scenes: “On the Scream Set” and “Drew Barrymore”
• Q&A with the cast and crew
• Theatrical trailer
Scream 2
• Audio commentary with director Wes Craven, producer Marianne Maddalena and editor Patrick Lussier
• Deleted scenes with optional audio commentary by Wes Craven, producer Marianne Maddalena and editor Patrick Lussier
• Producer Marianna Maddalena, and Editor Patrick Lussier
• Outtakes, Featurette
• Theatrical trailer
Scream 3
• Audio commentary with director Wes Craven, producer Marianne Maddalena and editor Patrick Lussier
• Deleted scenes and alternate ending with optional audio commentary by Wes Craven, producer Marianne Maddalena and editor Patrick Lussier
• Outtakes
• Behind the Scenes montage
• Theatrical trailer
Amazon list the aspect ratios as 1.85:1 but we hope that’s a mistake, as the films were shot in the wider 2.35:1 format. And there’s no mention of the Director’s Cut for the first film, but that matches the original DVD being the Theatrical Cut anyway. We’ll wager that a boxset with new supplements will be on the way around the time Scream 4 hits DVD/Blu.
So will you buy these BD’s now, or wait and see what the future holds?
