Reps for actress Lena Headey ("300") say that the British star will play the principle antagonist, Ma-Ma in the upcoming movie Dredd. The matriarch of a drugs gang, who deals a reality-altering narcotic known as SLO-MO, and who presides despotically over an enormous apartment block called Peach Trees. This is an adaptation of the inspired future cop character "Judge Dredd". Pete Travis ("Omagh", "Vantage Point") is directing while Karl Urban ("Doom", "And Soon The Darkness") will embody the anti-hero Dredd.

I for one think it's a great casting move. With Headey having roles in previous actions movies before, this isn't a stretch for her to play a chartacter of this magnitude and fans of the comic should be pleased.

Next X-Files: No Script, but Everyone's "Game"

After the truly strange and misguided X-Files: I Wan to Believe, are audiences ready for another film culled from The X-Files mythology? It doesn't matter, the X-Files team is ready and they're awaiting on the studio (Fox).

Duchovny, who was quoted in the foreign press saying a script is being written (that turned out to be false), spoke to Showbiz Spy about the possibility of the next film and he said that Chris Carter and Gillian Anderson are "game."

"We're all like this little X-Files family and I, for one, would love to continue. And I think there’s a lot left in the show. You know? And I think we can continue to make good movies. It's just a matter of spending enough on a movie that can compete in the summertime. We made a movie and released it in the summer, but it wasn't really a blockbuster movie. And it got kind of overshadowed by the bigger ones. So, we’re saying, make us big. We'll fight with the big boys."

If Chris Carter were to follow through on the X-Files mythology, he could "go big" by throwing Mulder and Scully into a full-scale alien invasion that the series said would always occur in 2012.

Plenty of alien fare is hitting the screen this year and 2012 is less than 12 months away at this point...

"Super 8", "Mission Impossible 4", and "Tintin" Will All Be In IMAX!

A deal has been struck between IMAX Corporation and Paramount Pictures which means those three movies, in addition to "Transformers: Dark of the Moon", will all be available for viewing in IMAX theaters!

According to ComingSoon.net, "The four movies are J.J. Abrams' Super 8 released on June 10, the Abrams' produced Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, once again starring Tom Cruise and directed by Brad Bird, set for December 16, the previously announced Transfomers: Dark of the Moon, directed by Michael Bay, on July 1, and Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret of the Unicorn two weeks later on December 28 (in the United States).

The latter two were filmed in 3D and will be remastered for release in IMAX 3D, while Mission: Impossible has scenes that were filmed using IMAX cameras similar to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight."

Greg Foster (Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment) also had this to say about the agreement:

Everyone Wants Taylor Lautner, Including Michael Bay

Call me crazy, or at least stupidly optimistic, but I kinda think Taylor Lautner has what it takes to be an actual movie star. Yes the Twilight movies are ridiculous and require him to act like a big wolfy statue made of abs and piercing glares, but they turn everyone into bad actors, and every time you see Kristen Stewart or Robert Pattinson outside of that world they're actually kind of appealing. Lautner hasn't done much of anything beyond playing Jacob Black, so there's no actual evidence he can act just yet, but we'll be seeing it very soon-- a lot of it. Lautner, not even 19 years old, is in approximately a jillion movies between now and the apocalypse in 2012, and you are going to be really sick of seeing him well before then.

Deadline has a whole bunch of scoops on what he'll be up to once he finishes shooting Breaking Dawn this spring, and who might be joining him. First up is Incarceron, which brought Lautner on board last month and which Lautner will actually produce; right now they're looking for a female lead and eyeing Blake Lively (apparently up for every single major role these days), Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson. After that comes an unnamed spy thriller dubbed "The Bourne Identity for the next generation" (bet you didn't see that one coming), and based on the same Israeli Mossad agent who inspired Spielberg's Munich. Lautner is producing that one too. Go ahead, take a deep breath to let that sink in.

And even though he's booked for the rest of the year, Lautner is being courted by everyone from Michael Bay to Scott Stuber, who has the rights to the epic fantasy adventure Demon Wars and wants Lautner to star. At at some point he has to make the Stretch Armstrong movie he signed up for over a year ago, though all signs point to that one slowing down in development, possibly as Universal waits to see how their other big toy movie Battleship turns out. So, in conclusion, Taylor Lautner is everywhere, always, and even when the second installment of Breaking Dawn comes out and everyone moves on to swooning over some other teen hero, there will be plenty more Lautner movies to haunt us for years to come.

The Company Men Review

The Company Men is a movie starring Ben Affleck as a successful employee of a shipping company who all of a sudden gets laid off during the difficult economic times of a recession. Unemployment being the theme of the movie, I could easily relate to the movie given the the economic struggles in America today. Affleck's character immediately has a hard time, understandably dealing with the transaction from wealthy business man to unemployed father of two. He's used to living a certain lifestyle, not having to look twice at the bills and purchases he makes on a regular basis.

That quickly changes once the checks stop pouring in. Playing golf at the Country Club, riding around in a brand new Porsche and other meaningless expenses had to be taken into a account now that employment is seemingly out of reach.

After initially dealing with that fact that you are unemployed the real hard part if the job search. The film focuses on that instantly with that being one of the main points of the movie. It's takes Affleck's character awhile to deal with the changes in his life and to realize that certain sacrifices need to start being made so that his family, wife included are taken care of. Losing his job, that secure feeling of comfort slowly fades away and he begins to see the world as if it's slowly coming to a stop but his life is the only one that's decelerating.

As the bills begin to pile up, Affleck's character ultimately reaches the point where a job, any job will do and reluctantly settles into a life as a carpenter. The movie shows different aspects of unemployment from people who work on the ground floor to CEO's all losing there jobs. They each deal with the pending difficulty in their own way with job searching being their new profession of choice. The Company Men stays true to the economic challenges of today and gives a real insight into what many Americans are going through right now. Included are solid performance from Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper, Kevin Costner and Mario Bello so with a believable story and on-point acting, this movie is worth watching. For Maria Bello's "performance" alone.

The Dark Knight Rises: The Casting News Keeps Getting Better and Better

Apparently rumors about The Dark Knight Rises come in bunches, as there's another story out there to cast light on what we reported just hours ago about potential casting for female leads in the film. According to THR Eva Green and Naomi Watts have not in fact been cast-- we knew that was just a rumor anyway-- but Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley and Jessica Biel top the list of women auditioning on the Warner Bros. lot this week for either of the two big female roles, one of them the villainess Talia al Ghul. The other is described as a "love interest," though there's no word if the character is, as earlier reported, Vicki Vale.

Other actresses auditioning are Kate Mara, Charlotte Riley and Gemma Arterton; you may not have heard of Riley before, but given that she's engaged to Tom Hardy, who's already confirmed for a role in the film, she might have an extra edge. And as a matter of fact, the studio really is interested in Naomi Watts for a part, but she's shooting amovie in Thailand right now and can't come to the lot for meetings.

Of course, this is another one of those "shortlist" stories that could result in nothing-- we heard endless lists of names considered to play Lisbeth Salander in Girl With The Dragon Tattoo before Rooney Mara seemingly swooped out of nowhere to nab it. It's possible we'll hear tomorrow that Hathaway and Biel have been cast, and just as likely that three months from now we'll learn Nicole Kidman will be playing both parts. OK, maybe not that likely. But anyway, just because this is coming from the pretty well-connected Hollywood Reporter, do not take this as Gospel until contracts are signed.
